Romantic Christmas movies

Serendipity (2001)

Starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale

It is one of my favorite holiday movies.

This is a movie about destiny, fate and true love. A couple meets at Christmas shopping for each's significant other in New York City. They are both smitten with each other, but the timing isn't right. They decide that if they are meant to be together, then fate will reunite them when the time is right. You need to rent this movie to see whether or not fate brings them back together.

Surviving Christmas (2004)

Starring Ben Affleck, James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, and Christina Applegate

Facing another Christmas alone, Drew Latham  decides to go back to his idyllic childhood home to recall the family holidays of his youth. There is, however, one problem: the people living there now are not Drew's family.  A lonely, obnoxious, young millionaire pays a family to spend Christmas with him.

Bridget Jones's Diary  (2001)

Starring  Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant and Colin Firth

It is based on a 32 year old woman who is obsessed with her weight, cigarettes and her love life. While trying to keep these things in check and also deal with her job in publishing, she visits her parents for a Christmas party. They try to set her up with Mark, the visiting son of one of their neighbors. She instead falls for her boss Daniel, a dashing lothario who begins to send her suggestive e-mails that soon lead to a dinner date proposition. She decides to take control of her life by keeping a diary. You have to watch this movie to see what Bridget Jones goes through.

While You Were Sleeping (1995)

Starring Sandra Bullock, Peter Gallagher and Bill Pullman

As Lucy, a lonely subway worker, she becomes smitten with a handsome stranger. But when she saves his life after he's been mugged and fallen into a coma, his hilariously offbeat family mistakes her for his fiancee! Soon, the mix-ups escalate as Lucy fabricates a life between herself and a man she's never met! And when Lucy...
This film is so nice, heart-warming, and funny, you won't be disappointed.

You've got Mail (1998)

Starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan

You've Got Mail is about a man and a woman who fall for each other after talking online. The thing they don't realize is that they are business rivals. One is the owner of a mega bookstore chain and the other is the owner of a small local bookstore forced to close by the mega store.
You have to watch it to see if they can put love before business.

Love Actually (2003)

Starring Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Martine McCutcheon, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman

Love Actually is a romantic comedy set in London, England.
Follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England. It is one of those movies from which you come out in love with love. It's fresh, it's funny, it's romantic, it's sad, it's all of those things that love is to all of us.

The Family Stone (2005)

Starring Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Diane Keaton and Claire Danes

Sarah Jessica Parker plays an uptight businesswoman who goes to meet her boyfriend's free-spirited family over the Christmas holidays. Overwhelmed by their colourful ways, Parker asks her sister to join her for moral support, adding to the chaos. This movie is about a family coming together for Christmas, but one brother is bringing his girlfriend and no one in the family likes her.

The Christmas Card  (2006)

Starring John Newton, Alice Evans

In the war in Afghanistan, Captain Cody Cullen is touched by lovely card sent by Faith Spelman from the small town of Nevada City, California. As months pass, the card never leaves his side, giving him the strength to survive and setting him on a mission to find her.

I enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies, but this is a favorite. The location, scenery and snow make it a must-have DVD.  This is a great family film to add to your Christmas collection.

Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

Starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan

One night Annie hears a radio show where Jonah has called in to ask how his father could find a new wife. The radio host invites Sam to reveal his heart and Annie literally cries when he says how his wife used to make everything in his life beautiful. She makes a connection and starts fantasizing about a man she has never met. Sleepless in Seattle is a simply wonderful romantic comedy.

Eve's Christmas (2004)

Starring Elisa Donovan, Cheryl Ladd, Sebastian Spence

A wealthy and successful career woman gets a second chance in life when a magical wish transports her back in time eight years to when she walked away from her fiance to lead a business life in New York.
It is a heartwarming Christmas movie and a fantasy.  I really enjoyed this movie and recommend to watch it to everyone.
